Precious French Clock in Gilded Bronze. 1st Half s. XIX. Well preserved and working

Striking French desktop clock completely made of golden bronze, dating from the first half of the 19th century, probably between 1820 and 1830. It is a real luxury piece, a hundred per cent original and in perfect working order. It chimes the hours and the quarters. Both the machinery and the beautiful box, which is smartly engraved with baroque and romantic motives, are complete and keep all their original parts. The bronze the clock is made of is in very good condition and the front side is really attention-grabbing, as it is delicately chromed in a deep golden tone. The clock is pyramidal in shape and stands on four volute-shaped legs. The decoration is divided in two well-defined parts: the bottom part, completely covered by baroque and geometrical motives, and the upper part, in which we can see the white round face and its black numbers. Just over the face there is the most significant part of this clock: a beautifully engraved sculptural group which depicts a young girl petting a dog. Both figures are sitting on some kind of rock formation which provides this charming scene with a romantic touch, highly representative of the style of that time. The face is made of delicate white porcelain, bearing some hairs and the remains of an inscription, probably the clock brand. The machinery has a thread pendulum which has been repaired so it can work perfectly. The key is original. The machinery is signed and bears the following inscription: EZTABT. BAZELAIRE DE PARIS, with the makers name and city. The inscription is just over the pendulum connection. Just above we can see a four-figure number, probably the serial number: 1562. This clock is surely a fantastic decorative piece, which will highlight the most stylish room with its presence and clear sound. Measurements: 270 mm width x 400 mm height.
