Spectacular Mantel Clock with Pair of Candelabra. Set of Bronze S. XIX

Impressive set of candelabra and mantelpiece clock. This set comes from France and dates from the 19th century. The clock has a Paris 7 day movement and works perfectly, chiming the hours and the halves. Both the clock and the candelabra set are in excellent condition, looking an elegant as luxurious as new. The three pieces are made of solid bronze and are complete, with no broken or missing parts and no reparations at all. The pieces decoration is vivid a made in a baroque style, full of volutes, attached details, moldings and busts. The set is highly decorative and its ancient age makes a magnificent article of it. The clock stands on five legs and is flanked by two elaborated volute. It is crowned by a piece which reminds us of a trophy or a vase, also decorated with volutes. But surely the most appealing detail is the embossed motive just over the clocks face, with a torch and a sword entwined by a band. Under the face there is a smart shield with no engravings in it. The clocks face is made of profusely engraved bronze except for the numbers, made of white porcelain with black Roman numbers on it. Inside the box, the clocks movement has an elegant engraved signature with what looks like the E and X letters, crowned by four small stars or flowers. The candelabra are luxurious and stylized, each one designed to hold four candles. The pyramidal bases stand on four small legs, and the centers are decorated with an engraved woman`s profile in a cameo style. The whole surface of both pieces is adorned with bronze volutes and attached details, all of the engraved with vegetal, classic and symmetrical motives. They are two beautiful pieces which complement perfectly the lovely clock. This striking set will look great on any mantelpiece or on an antique living room table.
