This incredible item is a collectors piece, a highly original piece full of historic and medical interest. It is a travelling dentists toolkit made in France in the early 1900s. The article is composed of a dental drill connected to a pedal lathe, in perfect working order, and a nice small chest of drawers with hinged lid designed to store the toolkit. The kit has a lot of utensils of all kind, from the classical thongs and nippers to different stands, hooks, etc. It is a quite interesting article because of its ancient age, its originality and the good condition it boasts. The pedal lathe is a beautiful machine made of black-enameled cast iron. It is decorated with fine floral motives and lines, all of them painted gold. It has a top hole designed to hold a long slim brass stem; this piece holds the drill and connects it with the band that transmits the circular movement. To operate the drill the user just has to tread on the pedal. This element is especially attractive and shows off a filigree design with a golden medal that contains the initials C and S. The whole machine is in excellent working condition and all its parts and components are original from the early 1900s.The toolkit is stored, as stated before, in a fine small chest of drawers. The front lid keeps the lock and key in perfect working condition. When open, this lid reveals five drawers. The chest of drawers is in good condition and the mahogany veneer preserves the original satin finish, quite warm and bright. At the top we can see a nice engraved brass handle. At the front of the top compartment we can see a metal plate with a red-enameled engraved inscription: REYMOND Frères 22, Rue le Peletier. 22 PARIS GENÉVE LYON BRUXELLES.Any lover of medical antiques and vintage scientific curiosities will find a great piece in this travelling dentists toolkit.Measurements: Lathe and Drill: Height: 132 cm/51 in.
