Striking antique dental lathe made of black-lacquered iron with golden details. This tool was made in the early 20th century, more precisely between 1910 and 1920. The item is in very good condition and preserves all its original component parts. It works perfectly and keeps all the charm present in mechanical antiques from the early 20th century. The device is composed of a tripod-shaped base with a wheel on top. The wheel turns when pressing a pedal the turning movement is transferred to the lathe itself by means of the tape that connects both pieces. On top of the vertical iron mast located beside the wheel we can see a long chromed-metal tube. This tube is connected to the mast by a small key. At the top of the tube there is a metal piece that holds a flexible metal hose. The hose is ended by the lathe itself, which is in turn composed of different small pieces. The piece located on top of the chromed tube bears two capital letters engraved in the metal: W&H. The whole chromed-metal set is in magnificent condition, with scarcely any signs of the trace of time and use. At the lathes base we can see the pedal that makes the tool work. This piece, made also of cast-iron, shows a nice filigree design with two circular parts for the users heel and instep. The instep part is adorned with an embossed monogram: a diamond inside a rectangle, both containing the letters AB. The rest of the mechanism boasts a fine black-lacquered finish, decorated with slim golden lines that enhance the pieces shape. With its fully industrial look and an undeniable charm, this great lathe will be the perfect detail to decorate a dentist´s office or to belong to any lover of antique machines.
