Curious mechanical tool made in the 19th century and used to perform castration operations and other surgical interventions. It is a quite ancient tool used with other instruments such as scalpels, emasculators and thongs to perform castrations and eradicate tumors in men and animals. This tool is quite simple and efficient. It is composed of a hollow long piece with open ends. Inside there is a caterpillar chain that forms a loop at one end. At the other end, the chain is connected to a piece that moves by manipulating two T-shaped levers. The user must move the levers so the piece can collect the chain. When collected, the chain closes the loop that emerges at the tools bottom end. This loop was designed to compress the scrotum of the man or animal to be operated. Thanks to this compression, the intervention became easier and more direct. The doctors would us one or two devices in order to make incisions easier. The instrument is in very good condition and can be manipulated: the component parts work fine and the metal looks shiny and flat. This singular tool is a very special piece that will delight every hunter of rare antiques. Measurements: Width: 3.5 in/9 cm. Height: 8 in/20 cm.
