Precious precision balance of English manufacture, dated in the 19th century. It was marketed by the firm Andrew H. Baird of Edinburgh, Scotland, specialized in photographic articles. Hence we suppose that it was especially used by photographers for the preparation of chemical compounds (emulsions, liquids for the photographic process, etc.). Its use is also indicated for the preparation of pharmaceuticals, given its precision. The manufacture belongs to the prestigious Avery Ltd. firm about which interesting references have already been made in the description of other balances that we offer. It is in good condition and includes a complete set of thirteen weights collected in a small inner drawer in the support base, both made of wood, ranging from 100 grams to 100 milligrams. Both the cymbals and the cross as well as the blade are metallic (brass). In this model, the needle or pointer indicates the balance without scale. It also has a lever to immobilize the cross. Measures: 38 cms (height), 27 cms (width), 15,5 cms (depth).
