Rare Carved Medicine Cabinet, 19th Century.

Beautiful solid wood medicine cabinet made in Germany in the late 19th century. This is an amazing antique in which we can distinguish different hand-carved types of wood that make a lovely contrast and provide the piece with real harmony. Among others, we can see a lot of mahogany wood and many oak details. The cabinet is in great condition, and in spite of its ancient age it preserves all its original parts and pieces. The front door boasts a neoclassical design with a lot or carvings, all of them symmetrically disposed and making up a beautiful piece.The deep dark red color of this medicine cabinet is due to the use of mahogany wood in its construction. The door, the sides and part of the drawer are made of this noble wood. On the other side, if we open the door we will find that the bottom, the shelf and the drawers are made of oak wood, with the nice golden brown and deep veneer that characterize this specie. The sobriety and smartness of the inside makes a great contrast with the baroque carvings of the outside and with the mahogany woods richness. The small bottom drawer has a mahogany front, embellished by an openwork detail made of oak wood.As stated before, the inside is divided in different parts. At the top there is a shelf dividing the gap in two parts, while the bottom has six small drawers. Each drawer has its corresponding white-enameled metal plate with the German names of various medicines and compounds in golden lettering. Some small knobs are different from the others; probably they were missing or broken during the cabinets life, so they were substituted. The woods impressive good condition, preserving all its carved details and parts with no scratches or flaws, is as remarkable as the warm finish that protects it and whose shine highlights its beauty and tones.This wonderful medicine cabinet is the perfect complement for a stylish bathroom, but is also a great piece to embellish any classical rooms wall.Measurements: Width: 520 mm.
