This lovely piece is a pedestal designed to show off decorative figures or sculptures. It is made of sterling silver and authentic malachite. It is a beautiful article that was made in the 1950s. The pedestal boasts a sturdy and balanced design with an original combination of pure lines and floral decoration. The result is an item that exudes personality, perfect to support a work of art and turn it into the starring piece of any room. The pedestals base is completely made of sterling silver and so is the top piece. The base is shaped as a truncated pyramid and stands on four integrated legs. It has four sides, all equal to each other. Each sides background is made of gold-plated punched silver, with some symmetrical wild flowers standing out on it. The background is surrounded by a fine non-gilded silver fringe. There is a malachite circular piece in the center of each side; these bright green pieces stand out on the subtle golden metal. On top of the base we can see a malachite cylinder that supports the top of the pedestal, the place designed to put the sculpture or art piece on. The cylinder is thick and flat and supports a set of different-sized circular pieces. The first piece is a malachite circle; a gold-plated silver piece with engraved flowers rests on it, and then there is the top malachite base, bigger in size. In general, the parts create a balanced and harmonious whole: the stones gorgeous green color and its typical marbled texture make a wonderful combination with the gold-plated and silvery metal.Perfect to be shown off on a stately sideboard on into an antique showcase, this silver and malachite pedestal is a real collectors piece.Measurements: Width: 3.5 in / 9 cm.
