This delicate sterling-silver piece is a sweet chest or jeweler made at the end of the XIX Century or the beginning of the XX Century. The chest remains in excellent condition. Inside it boasts a fine gold-plated finish, shiny and even, an outside is decorated with handmade embossed and engraved motives. At the center of the lid, a big red oval onyx stone creates a lovely detail: its intense color makes a great contrast with the shiny silver surface. The chest is oval in shape and stands on four small legs, composed of curved shapes and embossed details that create airy compositions. The chest itself shows a curved and sumptuous design, completely decorated with hand-carved motives that depict volute sets. Separating these motives there are small embossed details, precisely performed, depicting branches with fruits and pineapples. The engraved and embossed motives are wonderfully preserved. The chests lid is truly gorgeous. Surrounding an ample surface decorated with the same engraved volutes as the box, and with the central onyx stone standing out, we can see a wide fringe composed of embossed compositions with flowers, fruits and leaves. Similarly, the onyx stone is embedded in the center of a diamond composed of tiny and charming flowers. Last but not least, the chests base bears the engraved hallmarks that testify for the silvers quality and origin, and also the silver proportion (800). Perfect to decorate a lovely vanity, this sterling-silver sweet chest or jeweler is a very special article. Measurements: Width: 7.8 in / 20 cm. Height: 1.9 in / 5 cm. Weight 508 g.
