Fascinating antique amputation chain-saw made of steel and in striking condition. This is a surgical tool made circa 1850, more than one hundred and fifty years old and wonderfull preserved. The chainsaw is composed of two handles connected to the two ends of a flexible chainsaw. The hammer-shaped handles are identical and are designed to provide a good grip, allowing the user to make a good seesaw movement to operate the saw. The chainsaw itself is composed of a series of toothed links which make up a flexible metal strip, hard and sturdy. The chainsaw is 16.4 in long and was used to saw the bones in surgical amputations. One of the handles bears the BRUNEAU brand name clearly engraved in the metal surface. The steel is in great condition and only shows some slight signs of rust in one of the handles, scarcely visible. This antique Bruneau amputation chainsaw is a real collectors item bound to shine in a museum of medicine or a showcase belonging to an expert in medical antiques. Measurements: Length: 16.4 in / 41 cm.
