Antique case with a set of ophthalmologic surgical tools for military use. This fine surgical-tool set is complete and comes from England, where it was made in 1905. The tools are made of steel and are organized in a removable metal frame which can be unfolded to show the two rows of tools. The set contains all kind of items: scalpels, spatulas, tweezers, etc., all of them original from the time. The steel frame prevents the tools from moving when carried, keeping them always ready for action. The case itself is a gorgeous mahogany-wooden box in excellent condition, with a greatly preserved old-time finish. The box preserves the original lock and key in perfect working order. The corners show off delicate and sturdy dovetail joints, perfectly fitted and glued. The lid has an embedded brass plate with the engraved manufacturing date, 1905. For its ancient age and historic charm, this antique case with a set of ophthalmologic surgical tools for military use is a real museum piece. Measurements: Width: 9.2 in / 23 cm. Depth: 6 in / 15 cm.
