Antique and very rare pedal-operated dentists polisher dated circa 1900 and in perfect working order. This curious device preserves all its original component parts and pieces except for the string, which dissapeared long ago, and the new soft polishing disk. It boasts a simple and fine design with a black-enameled cast-iron foot decorated with gold-painted motifs, and a top wooden compartment with a protecting cover which houses the disks. It comes with three sanding and polishing disks. The device is designed to sand, shape and polish dental prosthesis before putting them in the patients mouth. At the top we can see a mobile component part with two disks, attached to the wooden base: a sanding disk (to shape pieces) and a soft one (to polish them). The mobile part is connected to the string which ends at the floor pedal. When the pedal is operated, the string moves the top part rapidly and this imparts a rotary motion to the disks. The user only has to put the piece to be shaped in contact with the moving disks. The top base and the protecting cover are made of mahogany wood and preserve the original finish, warm and lovely. The iron foots black enamel is also finely preserved, and so is the modernist-style golden decoration. This fascinating antique pedal-operated dentists polisher is the perfect element to decorate a professional study, or to shine in the living room of a lover of medical antiques.
