Antique pedal-operated dentists drill made circa 1900, in very good condition and working order. This is a simple and stylized device which still preserves all its original component parts. The only piece which has been replaced is the string, as the original one disappeared long time ago because of the wear produced by a constant use. The drill is composed of a cast-iron foot with a wheel and a pedal, supporting a vertical silvery-metal mast with the drill itself connected at the top end. In order to use the drill, the user must press the pedal repeatedly and move the wheel. This will impart a rotary movement to the polisher located at the drills point. The wheel and the base bear a fine black-enameled finish decorated with nice golden hand-painted flowery garlands. The black enamel shows some signs of rust, logical in such an old piece. Nevertheless the golden decoration is complete and the enamel looks fine too. The metal mast is connected to the base through a screwed metal fork. Last but not least, the drill itself is composed of a flexible nozzle, an emery stone and a fabric-covered grab. Full of charm and history, this antique pedal-operated dentists drill will draw anyones attention as part of the decoration of a room or study. Measurements: Width (Foot): 16.8 in / 42 cm. Height: 58 in / 145 cm. Wheels Radium: 12 in / 30 cm.
