Antique Precision or Pharmacy Balance. Circa 1900

Amazing antique precision or pharmacy scale in glass urn, original from the early 20th century (circa 1900) and in excellent condition. The scale and the urn are independent pieces and can be separated. Both are entirely original from the time: the scale preserves all its metal component parts and pieces, while the urns glass panes have not been replaces and remain perfectly preserved. A complete weigh set is provided with this item. It is an old-time set, though not as antique as the scale. Overall this is a decorative and charming piece which is also in perfect working order. The glass urn mounts a sturdy solid wooden base, protected with a fine satin walnut-colored finish. The base is quite high and acts as an exhibition pedestal for the scale. The front glass pane can be removed in order to work with the item. The scale has its own base too, a lovely solid-mahogany wooden piece with two front drawers. The wood is in wonderful condition and preserves the original satin finish. The symmetrical drawers mount metal knobs and can be used to store the weigh set and other tools (tweezers etc.). All this items component parts are made of brass and remain in very good condition. The top part of the scales stands out for its fine design: the beam, the balancing screws and the agate plates make up a fine combination of shapes and mobile parts that provide this piece with a very special appeal. At the bottom of the scale we can see the arrestment knob used to graduate the scale when weighing products. The weigh set that comes with the item is composed of silvery metal weighs stored in a solid beech wood case. The set is complete and comes with a micro-weigh set and tweezers for their manipulation.
