Striking antique Mathieu surgical tool case made in France circa 1900. The case is made of leather, is decorated with golden lines and has a purple velvet and silk lining inside. It is composed of a central body and side flaps that can be folded, creating a portable and compact design. One of the flaps is loose and another one is partially detached. Nevertheless, the case still preserves all its parts and contains a very complete quality tool set. Inside it bears the manufacturers name and address in Paris in fine golden lettering. The metal lock is in working order too. The surgical tools are made of stainless steel; some of them (knives and hooks) are foldable and mount tortoiseshell handles. The tools bear the company name, MATHIEU, clearly engraved in the metal. The set includes knifes, hooks, probes, tongs, hemostats, needles and droppers of different kinds, all of them finely preserved. This antique Mathieu surgical tool case keeps all the charm and the mystery of turn-of-the-century medical instruments. Dimensions: Width: 7 in / 18 cm. Depth: 3.15 in / 8 cm. Height: 2 in / 5 cm.
