Fine-looking pair of antique ceramic pharmaceutical vases, 15 inches high and original from the early 20th century (circa 1900). The vases are in good condition, a quite surprising feature considering its ancient age and the fragile material they are made of. They are both of identical shape and design, quite stylized and slightly narrower at the center. The ceramic is white and is adorned with enamel blue, green and ochre motifs. The motifs depict lines, circles, leaves, flowers and scrolls and are all outlined in black. At the back of the vases we can see blue heraldic eagles, while the front sides show parchment-shaped cartouches with the Latin names of the substances they were intended to contain: SACCARUM and AMYLUM. These words are handwritten in black capital letters; the word SACCARUM is slightly worn by the trace of time and use. The vases keep the original ceramic lids, in perfect condition. Beautiful and functional, this antique pair of ceramic pharmaceutical vases will surely stand out in a shelf, a fancy pharmacy or a showcase. Dimensions: Height: 15 in / 38 cm.
