Complete English trade scales with bronze set of weights made in the early 20th century (circa 1900). It is a very decorative item that has come to us in impeccable condition. The metal has been restored and the piece looks great, being also completely functional. The body is made of black-enameled cast iron and boasts an elegant design, with a heavy base composed of two connected elements on which the brass plate and the platform for the weights rest. These two pieces have two screwed brass pieces each that fix them to the iron body.Between them there are two similar brass elements that hold the rod that connects both parts. The brass pieces have screws that let the user adjust the scales. The platform for the weights is circular in shape and bears an embossed inscription: VICTOR ENGLAND, that testifies for the items place of manufacture. Beside it, the plate designed to contain the products to be weighed is a tear-shaped piece made of polished brass. It is quite deep. The brass looks impeccable, with no traces of rust or dents; the contrast that its deep bright makes with the dark iron surface turns these scales into a very decorative piece. The item comes with its corresponding set of weights. The set is composed of seven bronze weights with the number of ounces engraved in the metal. Each weight has a hole at the top, probably to use them in other kinds of scales with hook system. The weights are in great condition, just as if time had not passed over them: they show off a golden and shiny surface with no bumps or scratches. These lovely trade scales are a very decorative item that can still be used to weight products accurately.Measurements: Width: 240 mm. Height: 220 mm.
