Original tachometer made by Dr. Th.Horn in Leipzig, Germany in the 1920s. This singular instrument is designed to measure the revolutions per minute generated by some machines, devices and motors. The tachometer is in quite good condition and works perfectly. It comes with a series of accessories to adapt the instrument to different kind of machines. The tachometer and the accessories come in the original storing case, made of black faux leather-covered wooden planks. As stated before, this analogical tachometer is designed to measure the revolutions per minute (RPM) generated by an axe. The first tachometers were designed in the early 10th century and based their measurements in the centrifugal force. Most people think that this device was invented by Diedrich Uhlhorn, a German engineer. This particular article has a big circular dial with a series of inscriptions, among which we find the manufacturers name: Dr. TH. HORN LEIPZIG. Under this statement there is a bugle-shaped logo. The white face also bears some printed inscriptions that describe the revolutions per minute (UMLAURE i.d. MIN) measured by the four different positions to which the tachometer can be adjusted, and also the serial number 107665.The tachometers positions can be set and seen through the small longitudinal window located under the dial. The instrument can register speeds between 30 and 4000 RPM and comes with a set of accessories: a series of adapters, a string and a small flask with oil for the maintenance of the mechanism. Last but not least, the original case is also in good condition and keeps the original shutting hooks and the carrying handle.Any lover of engineering-related and mechanical antiques will be fascinated by this tachometer, a precise device in perfect working order.Measurements: Width: 2.9 in/7.5 cm.
