This attractive and curious mechanical device is an original anemometer from the early 20th century (1920s-30s). It comes in its original case and both the anemometer and the box are in great condition. The instrument is made of chrome-plated metal and has two clocks: a dial at the top and a mechanical chronometer (stopwatch) at the bottom. The chronometer works perfectly and has a crown to wind it up. The upper dial has a reset dispositive at the back. Over the clocks we can see the mill, composed of metal vanes and protected by a wide metal ring. The chronometers face bears an inscription with the name JULES RICHARD PARIS clearly printed in black lettering. Also, the stem that connects the mill and the clocks shows an engraved stamp with the initials RF (corresponding to Richard Frères, standing for Richard Brothers), together with the serial number 11333 and the words MADE IN FRANCE. Richard Frères Constructeurs Brevetés was a famous company that manufactured scientific surveying instruments. The glass that protects the cronometer is slightly crackled, though this detail can only be seen under a grazing light and is almost imperceptible in other conditions. Last but not least, the case where the anemometer is stored is the original one and is wonderfully preserved. It is outside lined with black faux leather and inside covered in red velvet. The metal handle and locks are also original. Because of its attractive look and magnificent condition, this amazing anemometer is bound to belong to the best collection of scientific antiques. Measurements: Width: 3.5 in / 9 cm. Height: 8.8 in / 22.5 cm.
