Striking antique military compass used by the English army during World War I. This is an exclusive piece, original from the time and made exactly one hundred years ago, in 1918. The compass shows off an almost impeccable condition: it works perfectly and the printed information looks as clear and precise as when it was manufactured. It is embedded in a simple solid-mahogany wooden box, square in shape and with a hinged lid. When the lid goes down the compass locks automatically. The face is a rotary model and preserves the original glass pane. At the boxs base we can see the engraved manufacturers name, BARKER & SON BARKERS LONDON, together with the serial number 2057. This company was founded in London in 1848 to manufacture mechanical and electrical devices for military use. For their quality and precision, their products were highly renowned during the two World Wars. Perfect as part of a good collection of campaign antiques, this ancient Frances Barker & Son compass mixes beauty and functionality in an only exclusive piece. Measurements: Width: 3 in / 7.7 cm. Depth: 2.95 in / 7.5 cm.
