Sober and attractive aneroid barograph made in 1925. This device is in good condition and operates mechanically; it can be used like new. The barograph keeps the original winding key which starts the mechanism. This mechanism, together with the paper roll where the registrations are written, is located into a hood made of wood and glass and is designed to protect the devices. The structure and the base are made of mahogany wood; the wood preserves it beautiful deep red tone and the original metal fittings. One of the mechanisms brass pieces bears two engraved initials: O. B., as well as the serial number: Nº 21307.Barographs are instruments intended to measure the atmospheric pressure. Aneroid barographs have no liquid elements inside (such as mercury) and, as is the case, work recording the sealed metal bellows movements produced when atmospheric pressures squeeze it or allow it to expand. The mechanical mechanism rotates a cylinder with paper on which the metal pointer, that has a small ink deposit, records the movements from the bellow. The barograph has a clockwork movement that rotates the cylinder. It can be operated at two speeds: S for slow and F for fast. The movement is in excellent condition and the barograph works perfectly. All its parts are original and in good condition. The metal handle, the hinges and the fittings of the protecting hood are also well preserved, as well as the mahogany wood. The varnish that protects it is the original one and, though in good condition, it can be embellished and polished with a slight restoration. The glasses are also originals and are complete, with no cracks or flaws.Any lover of shipping antiques and vintage scientific articles will find a real treasure in this barograph, a piece worthy of belonging to a museum or to the best collection.Measurements: Width (open): 460 mm. Height: 160 mm.
