Edison Standard Phonograph, 1900

This wonderful article is an Edison Standard Phonograph, a museum piece manufactured in the United States in 1900. Because of its ancient age, nice design and perfect working order, this phonograph is bound to become part of the best collection. The phonographs box is made of solid oak wood with nice dovetail joints at the corners. The wood is in good condition and preserves the original finish. At the front of the box we can see a big ribbon-shaped sticker with an inscription that clearly reads EDISON STANDARD PHONOGRAPH. The phonograph comes with three original cylinders in their colorful cardboard sleeves.The mechanism that rests on the wooden box also bears the inscription Thomas A. Edison Trade Mark painted in classy golden lettering on the black enamel. The phonograph was one of Thomas Alba Edisons most relevant and famous inventions. He patented it in 1878 and the Edison Speaking Phonograph Company has founded the same year. Nevertheless, the National Phonograph Company was established in 1896 and then the company launched the first Edison Standard Phonograph. The model we can see in these images is one of the first original designs first versions.One of the most remarkable pieces of this antique phonograph is its 10-panel horn. Made of metal sheet, it is black-lacquered and embellished with golden paint at the edges. The enamel is original and is in quite good condition. The black-lacquered mechanism bears a screwed brass plate with a long inscription indicating the patents and sale condition engraved in the metal. We can also read the phonographs serial number: S158637. On the other hand, the reproducer that connects the horn and the mechanism bears the following serial number: 239260. The device also preserves its curved wooden cover, with the original handle and very well preserved.This spectacular antique Edison Standard Phonograph will be the starring piece of any living room, where it will display all its charm and excellent sound.
