Awesome antique phonograph designed to play wax cylinders, made in France in 1903 by Pathe Fréres, first model ever. This exceptional device is original from those times and so are all its component parts. The phonograph has been checked and fine-tuned so nowadays it works perfectly. In order to listen to it, it comes with an original Edison cylinder in its beautiful cardboard box. The phonograph is a Pathe Nº0 made of wood and aluminum, a very decorative and evocative piece perfect to shine in any room or study. The logo of the company Pathe Fréres is engraved in different parts of the phonograph. It depicts a rooster singing and we can see it clearly engraved in the metal and printed in the wooden cover as a part of a gorgeous red Modernist sticker. The bird is accompanied by the brand motto: Je Chante Haut et Clair (I sing loud and clear?). Pathe Fréres started out in 1894, when Charles Pathe bougth an Edison phonograph and took it to different fairs in order to play 2-minute wax cylinders for money. His business succeeded so he decided to start buying and selling phonographs. In 1896 his brother Emile joined him and the company was definitely named Pathe Fréres. It grew exponentially and eventually made cylinders, phonographs, gramophones and records until the 1930s. This lovely device has a big aluminum horn in quite good condition and an original reproducer with the rooster logo printed in golden. The phonograph stands on a beech wooden base with milled edge and is protected by a cover made of the same material. The cover has beautiful dovetail joints at the corners and preserves the original carrying handle and shutting hooks. The cylinder that comes with the phonograph sounds great and comes in its attractive original cardboard case. This phonograph from the early 20th century is an amazing antique and a decorative piece, functional and nostalgic.
