Amazing antique Ducretet made in France in 1926. The radio is quite a rare piece, in good condition and with all its original component parts and knobs. Currently the radio is not in working order but its a complete very rare model that turns it into a real collectors piece. The radio is composed of an ample mahogany wooden casing in quite good condition that contains the mechanism. The black front panel is equipped with a great display of knobs and dials that increase the radios aesthetic interest and decorative potential. Under the top cover we find the valves and other devices (such as the transformer) that once brought the radio to life. Some of them beat the printed manufacturers name: RADIOSPIRE DUCRETET and TRANSFORMATEUR DUCRETET, among other. The front panel bears a riveted metal plate indicating that it was made by the company led by the sons of Eugène Adrien Ducretet (1844 1915), a French pioneer of telegraphy and communications. Between 1920 1930, the firm took part in the development of radio broadcasting in France. The front panel with the knobs and the plate remains in amazing condition. It mounts well-preserved black bakelite knobs and a fine dial with the manufacturers signature, Ducretet. There are also colored switches (blue and red) and other controls that make up a complex device. The panel remains hidden and protected by two solid mahogany doors; below the panel there is also a small drawer. Once the doors and the top cover are closed the radio becomes a discreet cabinet, perfect to decorate a living room. Rare and evocative, this antique Ducretet radio is a museum piece bound to become part of an ambitious collection. Measurements: Width:21.2 in / 54 cm. Height: 13.7 in / 35 cm.
