Beautiful antique brass desktop telescope made in England in the early 20th century (circa 1900). The telescope is designed to be put on a desk or a table and preserves all its original component parts and pieces, including a solar-filter lens. It comes in its original wooden case, an ancient piece whose surface reflects the trace of time. The telescope and the case make up a great set which stands out for its decorative quality, authenticity and good working order. The telescope is a three-bodied item whose drums can be folded and hidden into the main body. A curious feature about this item is that the brass tripod can be divided in two parts: the foldable legs and the cylindrical mast connected to the telescope. Once folded, the legs can be stored inside the mast so the telescope turns into a compact and easy-to-store item. The brass the telescope and the tripod are made is in great condition; their surfaces are protected by the original transparent lacquered finish that provides them with a delicate patina. The wooden case designed to store the telescope is shaped like a suitcase. It is made of solid wood and boasts an artisanal condition. We can appreciate the dovetail joints of the corners, carefully made by hand. The case preserves the original metal handle and shutting hooks; its antique look reflects the trace of time and makes a fine contrast with the brass telescopes shine. Inside the case is equipped with fix wooden pieces that help stabilize the telescope and to keep the solar-filter lens in its place. Perfect to add a touch of class to a study or dining room, this antique desktop telescope will stand out in the most special place. Measurements: Length (Unfolded): 29.1 in / 74 cm. Tripods Height: 16.9 in / 43 cm.
