Striking German balloon theodolite used to make aerial soundings. These devices are called pilot balloon theodolites, as they are currently used together with these accessories. This model dates from the 1940s and is in very good condition. It is a very special item because of its rarity. The theodolite is made of black lacquered iron and some of its components (reels, gears and scales) are made of silvery metal and brass. They are all very well preserved. All the reels and gears turn softly and work perfectly, except for one of the gears at the base which is used to adjust the rotation of the theodolite. Nevertheless, this detail in no way affects to the devices operation, and it provides a neat and clear vision and the same results of the first day of use. The objective, the eyepiece and the bubble level are also in perfect condition, while the scales are very clear and readable too. We can see several numbers and German inscriptions in different parts of the apparatus, which are meant to make its operation easier. They are engraved in the metal and painted white, so they can be perfectly seen on the black background. A curious feature of this piece is that it provides a vision in right angle: through the eyepiece, the user can see the places that are located to the right of the theodolite, making a right angle with the objective. A mirror inside makes it possible. This detail turns the piece into a real collectors item, perfect to shine in the most special rooms place of honor Measurements: 340 mm width x 330 mm height.
