Antique Leroy ruler set for labeling. Complete. USA, 1950's

Fascinating antique lettering set to perform different font types, in its original mahogany wooden case and in excellent condition. The set comes from the USA where it was made in the 1950s. It is complete and preserves all its original accessories in working order. This lettering set is a quality and interesting piece that can still be used to create beautiful cartouches and titles. It includes a guide-ruler kit with templates for the different letters: capital and lower case letters, simple and elegant, in different sizes but same model. We can also see the device which supports the marker and slides through the letter templates while it moves along the ruler in order to maintain a straight and level line. The rulers scale makes it possible to leave a regular spacing between letters and words, too. The set also contains a set of removable points that can be used with the different letter templates; a drawing-pen-like utensil; pencil leads and other drawing utensils. The storing case is made of mahogany wood and remains wonderfully preserved. Inside the cover we can see a paper label with the instructions for use and the brand name, LEROY, together with the manufacturers name: KEUFFEL & ESSER CO. These data can also be seen printed on the template rulers. This company, also known as K & E, was a drafting instrument and supplies company founded in 1867 by two German immigrants, William J. D. Keuffel and Herman Esser. It was the first American company to specialize in these products.
