Antique Faber-Castell 1/92 slide rule in excellent condition. This rule was made in 1963 and comes in its original storing case and can be easily used, making it possible to calculate the outcome of different simple and complex mathematical operations. It also shows metrical equivalences, weight and ultimate strength of metals and a lot more useful information, mainly in the engineering and mathematical fields. These rules were quite popular before the advent of digital calculators and personal computers. The rule that we can see in these images is made of white-celluloid-covered wood. It contains a narrower rule that moves along a central groove. At both ends, the main rule shows U-shaped gaps that let us see the sliding rules scale and outcomes. It also contains a sliding metal-and-glass accessory. The symbols and scales are printed in black and red color over the white background and remain perfectly legible. The rule comes in its original vintage case, made of green-leather-covered wood. The case bears the engraved manufacturers name, FABER-CASTELL, as well as the model: 1/92. The company name is also printed on the rule. This nostalgic Faber-Castell slide rule is a real museum piece whose efficiency still surprises and wonders us.Faber-Castell History Faber-Castell is one of the world's largest and oldest manufacturers of pens, pencils, other office supplies (e.g., staplers, slide rules, erasers, rulers) and art supplies, as well as high-end writing instruments and luxury leather goods. It is one of the oldest companies in Germany: it was founded in 1761, when Kaspar Faber opened a carpentry workshop in Stein, a place near Nuremberg. Though, it was his son Lothar who led the company to success by making and selling pencils; this way, pencils became the first branded writing utensils in the world. The Faber-Castell brand was created when Kaspar Fabers granddaughter, the baroness Ottilie von Faber, married the count Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen. Today it is still a family business, owned by the eighth generation. Faber-Castell is greatly recognized for its quality products and environmental and social responsibility policies.
