Attractive pocket surveyor level made in Germany in 1900 and in good condition. The level is a very antique piece and keeps all its original component parts and pieces. It is still a functional item that could be used to perform topographical measurements in situ. It is small in size and comes in its original protecting case. Though the case is quite worn by the trace of time and the use, it still fulfills its original function: to protect the level in a safe way so it can be easily carried. The level is made of cast iron and brass, and mounts some silvery-metal parts too. Inside the case we find the dismantled level, with a compartment for each piece. The level itself mounts a telescope and a bubble level, and it is accompanied by a spare connecting part that makes it possible to connect it to a tripod. The black lacquered telescope has two bodies: the cast-iron main body and a brass one that can be moved in order to focus the view. At the bottom of the brass body we can see the original bubble level; this piece bears the serial number DRP36795 engraved in the metal and clearly legible. The protecting case designed to store and carry the level bears a dark-blue-leather outside covering. Inside we can still see the remains of a blue fabric lining. Both materials are quite worn and faded; this indicates that the level was constantly in use. Acting as hinges, at the back of the case we can see three riveted leather pieces that substitute the original metal pieces which are now gone. Only one of the pieces, the central one, remains complete. Still functional and with a charming look, this antique pocket topographic level deserves to rest in a collectors showcase where it will display its full attractive. Measurements: Telescope: Folded: 4.72 in / 12 cm. Unfolded: 6.10 in / 15.5 cm.
