Beautiful antique compass set which probably belonged to an architect or an engineer. The set comes from France and is dated circa 1900. The utensils come into a lovely wooden case which contains a complete kit of delineation and drawing tools; no piece is missing. The set is composed of three compasses, several drawing pens, a French curve drawing template and some bits and accessories. The tools are made of steel and some of them mount bone handles, all in very good condition. The wooden case has a velvet-covered base with gaps molded in the tools shapes, so they can be kept in their places. The red velvet is also finely preserved. The case is made of solid rosewood, a material that stands out for its dark brown color and gorgeous black veneer. The top of the case has a rectangular brass plate embedded in the center, so the owner can engrave his or her initials. The case is finely preserved; inside the cover, the padded red moiré lining bears the inscription COMPAS SUPERIEURS printed in golden lettering. Perfect to be given as a gift to a professional draughtsman, this amazing antique compass set shines for its quality and great condition. Measurements: Width: 9.25 in / 23.5 cm.
