Antique anemometer in its original solid-wooden storing case, coming from England and dated between the late 19th and the early 20th centuries (circa 1900). This beautiful antique remains in great working order and today it could still be used for measuring the wind speed. Nevertheless, today it is mainly a decorative piece which looks really great thanks to its fine old-time design and excellent condition. The anemometer is composed of a cylindrical brass body which contains the dial. This body has three legs that elevate it on a solid cast-iron circular base. There is a helix connected to the dial; the helix is an iron cylinder with brass rods and vanes inside. The dial is white, with English inscriptions and numerals in black. It is protected by the original glass pane and bears six secondary hands, together with the printed serial number 3016. The instrument can be stored assembled into the original case, a sturdy and ancient solid-mahogany box with thick walls. The wood shows some signs of the trace of time and use, but is otherwise finely preserved. As authentic as decorative, this antique anemometer in its original storing case is a piece worthy of a good museum of engineering and technology. Measurements: Width and Depth: 2.4 in / 6 cm. Height: 2.8 in / 7 cm.
