Antique Heimbrecht Monocular Microscope. Germany, Circa 1925

Antique Heimbrecht monocular microscope made in Germany circa 1925, an original old-time model in its original wooden box. This is quite a simple device, probably bound to be used for studying or as an amateur. It mounts black-metal horseshoe foot and frame, a three-lens revolving nosepiece and brass turret and rack-and-pinion system. The brass preserves the original protecting finish which provides it with a fine patina. At the front of the turret there is a riveted plate with the manufacturers name and plate: Max Heimbrecht Berlin Oranienburg. The storing case is a simple solid-beech wooden box with sturdy dovetail joints. Inside, together with the microscope we find a set of 3 eyepieces and 3 objectives, one of them an oil immersion model and all in good condition. The microscope is finely preserved too; there is only one clip missing, a feature which does not hinder in any way the users experience. The double-sided mirror and the shutter are original and remain functional, just like the rack-and-pinion system which lets the user move the turret in order to focus the samples.
