Fine German Steindorff microscope made in Berlin in the 1920s. This instrument is in good working order. The microscope has the classical black enameled iron base and frame. The mobile component parts are made of brass and chromed metal. It has a three-lens revolving nosepiece; the lenses are fully functional. All the microscopes parts are original, except the case, and work perfectly. The microscopes turret bears an engraved inscription with the manufacturers name and the place where the factory was located: Steindorff & Co. Berlin. Under this inscription we can also see the instruments serial number: 50185.Steindorff & Co. Was a German firm that manufactured microscopes and scientific instruments for over one hundred years. In 1879 Emil Steindorff founded the factory in Berlin, and in 1915 his brother Otto shared the ownership of the company. After many years of development, in World War II the Berliner factory was destroyed but the firm kept on with their business. In 1951 an American branch was founded to distribute Steindorff microscopes in the USA. After decades of success, in 1986 the company went bankrupt.La firma Steindorff & Co. This particular microscope comes into a plywood protecting case with flexible handled and lock with key. Though it is not the original case, it is perfect to store and transport the instrument. The case is in good condition: the hinges are perfectly preserved and the outside is covered by a shiny transparent finish. Inside there is also a small plywood stand bound to support two lenses. The three lenses come with their metal corresponding metal sleeves. Any lover of scientific antiques will recognize a first-class item in this Steindorff microscope, a beautiful and functional article. Measurements: Width: 9 in/23 cm. Height: 14.5 in/37 cm.
