Fine antique microscope from 1923, made in Germany by Leitz Wetlzar. This is a high-quality and precise scientific research instrument, in good condition and perfect working order. The article has an enameled iron bird-claw foot with a nice shiny and even black finish. The top of the microscope is composed of different pieces made of golden brass and chromed metal. All of them are original and in excellent working order. The instrument has a three-lens revolving nosepiece and the brass some component parts are made of, such as the turret and the screws, keeps the original transparent lacquer. Without case.The turret and the lenses bear the engraved manufacturers name: Leitz Wetzlar. The company was founded in the late 19th century by Karl Kellner under the name of Optical Institute of Wetlzar, Germany. Ernst Leitz started working for Kellner and in a few years took over the company, renaming it Optical Institute of Ernst Leitz. With the trace of time the firm was just known as Leitz Wetlzar. As well as manufacturing good microscopes, the firm also produced the famous Leica Cameras (the name Leica is a mix between Leitz and Camera).This microscope is a quality and precise piece, worthy of the most demanding science man or of any good collector. In the instruments turret, just under the manufacturers name we can see the serial number 214619 engraved in the metal. All the pieces are wonderfully preserved so this device can be used to view samples just like the first day of use.
