German Brunsviga calculator made in the early 20th century (circa 1920), in very good condition and working like the first day. This is a classic model in the history of calculating machines that has survived to our days in good conditions and can still be used to perform basic arithmetic operations. The calculator sits on a wide solid wooden plank in an attractive chestnut-colored tone and the contrast between the cold metal, the shiny black enamel and the warm satin wood turns the overall into a singularly decorative piece. In fact, the German company Grimme, Natalis and Co. (Braunschweig) obtained the German patent righst to Odhner calculator in 1892 and started producing similar machines under Brunsviga name. The company developed the design in a very efficient way and their calculators were quality pieces, so they became successful machines until the early 1970s. In 1959 the company merged with Olympia but Brunsviga name kept on being used due to its popularity.This fine machine is a good example of Brunsviga calculators quality and nice design. Under it, to the left of the digits and the bars there is a medal with the patent and the initials of the manufacturing company.
