This nice piece, with its simple and functional design, is a Brunsviga A58 adding machine. It is a piece from the middle 10th century: this model was produced and commercialized from 1936 t 1952.The adding machine works perfectly, just like the first day of use, and the numbers printed on the paper look very clear. These features turn this machine into a decorative vintage piece, so exclusive, and a completely functional item.Brunsviga, together with Odhner and Triumphator, was one of the most important manufacturers of mechanic calculators in the first half of the 20th century. The brand appeared when German company Grimme, Natalis & Co from Braunschweig got the patents of the Odhner calculator (in 1892) and started producing them under the market name Brunsviga, actually the Latin name of the city where the machines were manufactured, Braunschweig. In 1927 the firm started being called Brunsviga Maschinenwerke AG and in 1959 merged with Olympia Werke AG. At the front of this adding machine, just by the paper roll, we can see a triangular metal plate with the logo and the market name. The machine has a metal sheet body painted in black and with hammered finish. The keyboard stands out on a live green background, with its cylindrical keys in bone-white and black. There are also four red keys for different functions. Just over the keyboard we can see the paper roll and the transparent plastic plate that holds the sheet when unrolling. To the right, a stylized crank let us get the result of the addition. Under this crank we can see the serial number 6913 engraved in the metal and painted in white. This vintage adding machine is a museum piece that preserves all its practical and sober beauty, and works perfectly too.
