Vintage Brunsviga 13 RK calculator made in Germany in the 1950s. This fine machine works with the pinwheel system typical of the calculators made at the time. It works perfectly and provides a soft and fluid operation, being able to perform the basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) with optimal results. The calculator is finished with hammered greenish brown enamel. Around the digits and the result boxes we can see there is a green flat paint under the hammered one and we could think the machine has been lacquered more than once. The Brunsviga 13 RK is a calculator whose mechanism is based in the pinwheel system developed by Odhner in the late 1800s. In 1892 Odhner sold his patent rights to Grimme, Natalis S Co. A.G., a company located in the German city of Braunschweig. From then on the firm manufactured Odhner calculators under the Brunsviga market name. Some years later the firm also changed its name for Brunsviga. In 1959 the company merged with Olympia Werke, the German typewriter manufactured. This particular calculator is in good condition though in some small places the finished is washed out and lets us see the metal sheet. The mobile parts are all original: they are made of silvery metal with parts of bone-colored and dark red bakelite. Both their look and operation are excellent. At the front side, just to the left of the digit levers there is a triangular metal sheet with the logo and name of the brand. Under the numbers there is an engraved inscription with the name BRUNSVIGA and the city where the factory was located. At the back of the calculator we can see a metal plate with the same data, and if we turn the machine upside down at its base we will find a metal plate with serial number 283980.This Brunsviga calculator is a real classic in the field of vintage arithmometers. It is a collectors piece, full of charm and history.Measurements: Width: 300 mm. Depth: 230 mm. Height: 160 mm.
