Lovely German Rheinmetall iid calculating machine made in 1925 and in perfect working order. This is a very special and quality piece whose design is curiously modern considering the time when it was made. The machine is made of black and green enameled aluminum with silvery metal mobile parts and bakelite keys and crank. It preserves the original enamel finish and though showing some slight signs of wear due to the trace of time and use, these details only talk about this beautiful vintage calculators ancient age and history.Rheinmetall calculators were manufactured by Sömmerda company (Thüringen, Germany) during several decades. The firm was founded in 1889 and made calculating machines till the mid-seventies under the names of Rheinmetall, Supermetall and Soemtron. This particular model was produced in the 1920s and boasts some features that made it very popular. Probably the most innovative one was a system designed to display the negative numbers just the way we are now used to, preceded by a hyphen and printed in red.The calculator that we can see in these photographs is not only a fully functional article, perfect to perform arithmetic operations; it is also a very decorative piece because of its dynamic design and the attractive color combination it displays. At the left bottom corner we can see the logo and market name, Rheinhell, printed on a small plate attached to the metal. The logo is also printed to the left of the keyboard. All the calculators parts are original from the time and are in very good condition.This calculator is a machine that still works accurately, being at the same time a fine piece worthy of belonging to a museum of 20th technological developments.Measurements: Width: 380 mm.
