This fine machine is an arithmometer made in Austria in the early 20th century (circa 1909) by the company Bunzel-Delton. The article is in excellent working condition and almost complete except a small screw located at the top file of number boxes, to the left. This detail does not interfere at all in the machines good operation, and it can be used like the first day to perform the four basic arithmetical operations. Otherwise the arithmometer is in good condition, well polished and comes in its original mahogany wood case that unfolds to become a stand.The arithmometer is an invention developed by Charles Xavier Thomas de Colmar in 1820, based in the mechanism invented by Gottfried Leibniz in 1694. The Thomas Arithmometers were the first to be successfully commercialized and the model we can see in these images is similar to them. In this case we are lookinh at a machine manufactured in Viena by the Bunzel-Delton - Werk Fabrik Automatischer Schreib. Its design was developed by Hugo Bunzel, after whom the company was named. The Delton Arithmometers were produced between 1908 and 1915.This calculating machine is in quite good condition. The original black-enameled finished has been removed to discover the brass case. The beautiful mahogany wooden case that protects the arithmometer bears the engraved serial number 5247. The case is in an almost impeccable condition: the mahogany wood displays its great beauty and solidity, while the polished brass lock and handles shine just like one hundred years ago, when this article was made. The lock is in good condition and the case can be locked with the key that comes with the machine.The arithmometers are singular machines, precise and good-looking. This particular model is a real find because of its ancient age and perfect working order.Measurements (open): Width: 24 in cm. Depth: 41,5 cm/16.33 in.
