Artillery level used to check the canyons angle of shot, made in 1915-16. This curious instrument is a rare and original piece that belonged to the army during World War I. Though we cannot say if it was used during the war, it is highly possible. The level is composed of different metal pieces made of polished brass, silvery metal and black-enameled iron. It is in good condition and works perfectly, and comes in its original carrying case made of light brown leather. One of the metal pieces this level is made of shows some slight signs of wear in the black enamel finish, probably due to the trace of time and use. The level has two telescopic cylinders (pipes) through which the user can look in order to correctly establish the right angle of shot. It also has a semicircular scale that helps the gunners to perform this task. All the instruments component parts are original and work correctly. At the back of the level we can see an inscription in white lettering: R.S.A. B.6176, probably the instruments serial number. To the right there is a very interesting symbol, also painted white: a vertical arrow pointing upwards. This sign indicates that the level belonged to the army and was of professional military use. The article comes in its original carrying case, made of real leather and in excellent condition. This wonderful artillery level in its original case is a historic piece. Because of its ancient age and good condition, it deserves to become part of a good collection of military antiques.Measurements: Length: 18 cm/7 in. Height: 6 cm/2.3 in.
