This amazing piece is a circular topographic level made of golden brass, in its original wooden case and in excellent condition. It is a big article made in Liege, Belgium and signed with the manufacturers name: ALEXIS WERY FABT. LIÉGE. The level preserves all its original component parts and is in perfect working order. It can be disassembled to store in into the case: each piece can be attached to a corresponding wooden stand that will prevent it from moving when on the move. The article is composed of a three-legged stand with a central piece that supports a wheel. The level itself must be located on this wheel. It is a cylindrical piece with an objective and an eyepiece, and a central bubble designed to check that it is leveled when in use. The glass bubble is the original one and its surface preserves the red graduated scale. The golden brass the components are made of is in striking condition, with no traces of rust and preserving the original transparent lacquer. The three-legged stand where the instrument stands preserves the original regulating screws that let the user put the instrument in the right position. The three legs bear the manufacturers signature clearly engraved in the metal. On the other hand, the case where the instrument can be stored is made of solid oak wooden planks, dark colored and with a nice antique patina. It is the original case and keeps all its metalwork: the brass handle, the hinges and the shutting hooks. It is surely the perfect complement for this singular piece. Because of its ancient age and imposing presence, this stunning topographic level deserves a place in a good museum or a great collection. Measurements: Length: 15.7 in / 40 cm. Height: 6.2 in / 16 cm.
