This amazing vintage machine is a rotary printer made in Germany in 1908. Big in size, solid and strong, this item weighs around 25 kg and is in very good condition though the paper tray is missing. Nevertheless, the machine works perfectly and remains as beautiful and functional as the day it was made, more than one hundred years ago. The printer rests on a solid wooden plank that acts as a base and is accompanied and protected by a wooden cover with an attractive logo at its front.Rotary printers work by printing images previously curved on a cylinder. This system was invented in 1843 by Richard March Hoe and was later improved by William Bullock. This particular printer boasts a charming antique design and keeps all the original components and pieces that operate the mechanism. The shiny black lacquered finish that protects the cast-iron body of the machine is in wonderful condition and so are the golden painted details that adorn the printers sides. On the right-hand side of the printer there is a metal plate with the embossed word ROTO, beautifully enhanced by a coat of golden paint.Under this plate we can see the crank that the user must turn in order to press the images (by rotating the cylinders). This piece keeps its original wooden handle. All the components are in perfect condition, with no traces of rust and perfectly operative: from the pinion chains at both sides of the machine to the metal bars, screws and gears that make it work. The protecting cover is made of curved veneered wood and shows off a nice light mahogany outside, in good condition and with a fine sticker depicting two gears and the word ROTO at the front. Just below this design we can see a logo in the shape of a red circle with a golden rampant winged lion inside. This striking vintage rotary printer is a truly original item, worthy of belonging to a museum of antique printing machines.Measurements: Width: 370 mm (with wooden plank). Height: 400 mm.
