This fine Antique calculator is a Hamann Manus, a rare machine made in Germany by the DeTeWe in 1926. The calculator stands on a black-enameled metal sheet base and its outside is made of the same material and finish; it preserves all its original component parts. Its great working order is really remarkable, fluid a soft. Hamann Manus calculators are noted for their curious design: outside it looks just like any Odhner aritmomether, with the same aesthetic and size, but inside their mechanism is completely different from theirs. Instead of the classic pinwheel, its most important part is a geared wheel with a thirty-six-part inner and outer gearing. These machines were designed by Charles Hamann for the DeTeWe Communications GmbH, a telecommunications company founded in Berlin by Robert Stock, in 1887.
