This lovely antique machine is a mechanical calculator with pinwheel mechanism and made in Germany in the 1920s. It is a Rema 1 calculator, in very good condition and with its original wooden base and cover. Both the calculator and the cover are well preserved and boast the great charm of turn-of-the-century office machines. It can perform the four arithmetical operations with exacts results, being a real pleasure to operate it for its soft and fluid performance. Rema calculators were made by Braunschweiger Rechenmaschinen - Fabrik Rema, G.m.b.H., a company located in Braunschweig, Alemania. In 1922 the company was absorbed by the powerful Brunsviga but the Rema 1 alculator kept on being produced for several years. The following models were produced under the Brunsviga MII and MIII names. This gorgeous calculator mounts black-enameled metal case with white numbers and symbols. The finishes are amazingly preserved and so are the chrome-plated metal component parts. The base is made of solid oak wood and is in good condition, and the cover is made of oak-covered plywood matching the base. The cover bears the printed Rema logo in beautiful golden and black lettering. The lock that connects the cover and the base works fine and the silvery-metal carrying handle is the original, in great condition too. Antique and functional, this Rema calculating machine is a good example of the quality German machines from the early 20th century.
