Curious German Brunsviga Calculator, made in the en of the 1950s by Olympia company. This company emerged from the fusion of Olmpya with Grimme, Natalis and Co., a firm located in Braunschweig, which took place in 1959. In 1892, Grimme, Natalis and Co. got the German patent of Odhner pinwheel machine and started to build this kind of calculators under the name of Brunsviga. It was a successful model which continued its production until the beginning of the 1970s. In spite of the fusion, Olympia kept the name of Brunsviga as it was really popular. This calculator is model 13 FK and it is in excellent condition and working order. The machine is covered with grey enamel, which makes a decorative contrast with the dark-red bakelite details such as the cranks handles, the numbers pointers and the gears. The enamel is in perfect condition and so is the silvery and shiny metal, showing no traces of pitting. All the components are original and work perfectly, so the machine can be used as the first day. On the left front side of this calculator we can see the name of the brand in white and red bakelite letters. At the rear, a square metal plate attached to the body of the machine shows the following inscription: Olympia Werke AG Brunsviga Werke Braunschweig Made in Germany. If we turn the machine upside down we will find a small metal plate with the serial number (34-111630), and a smaller one with the model: Brunsviga 13 RK. All this features show that this is a really original piece, a vintage calculator full of charm and precision which what is more, has survived until these days in a perfect condition. Measurements: 260 mm width x 162 mm height.
