Nice Brunsviga Calculator made in the late 1950s in Germany by Olympia. Brunsviga calculators were very popular in the 20th century and they evolved greatly from the firs Odhner models till the hand calculators from the beginning of the 1970s. The German patent of Odhners model was acquired by Grimme, Natalis and Co., which based their new calculators on it and made them under the name of Brunsviga. After the fusion of this firm with Olympia in 1959, the new company kept on making Brunsviga calculators. This particular machine is a typical model from the 1950-60s. It is made of metal with a grey enamel covering and the gears are made of silvery metal, shiny and polished. The handles, pointers and knobs are made of dark red bakelite. The contrast between the materials and the colors turns this machine into an attractive and decorative piece, as well as being an great technological antique. On the front side, just by the numbers we can see some white and red bakelite letters which make up the brands name, Brunsviga. The calculator works like new, fluidly and softly. On the left front side we can also see a number (16), painted yellow. At the rear there are two plates attached to the machines body: one of them bears the inscription Olympia Werke AG Brunsviga Werke Braunschweig Made in Germany, and the other shows the name, address and telephone of the original distributor: Rudolf Dormann Hamburg 70 Brauhausstieg 30 Telefon 6 52 70 70. If we turn it upside down we will find a plate with the serial number (34-114718) and another one with the model: Brunsviga 13 RK. Overall, these exquisite details turn this lovely calculator from the middle of the 20th century in the perfect acquisition for any collection of antique machines. Measurements: 280 mm width x 160 mm height.
