This wonderful simple microscope is a real museum piece because of its delicate structure, ancient age and good condition. This article was made in England in the late 19th century (circa 1870) and comes in its original wooden case, also well preserved. The microscope works fine and comes with different accessories, also original from the time. Among them there is a piece known as life box, designed to contain the live specimens in order to be watched. It is a cylindrical piece with a long base and glass top that can be attached to the sample plate, just under the lens. The microscope is well preserved, with the brass surface showing some signs of wear due to the trace of time. This detail, though, only provides the instrument with character and authenticity. The brass still preserves part of the original transparent lacquer finish. The item comes with a spare lens and two brass sleeves to store both lenses. It can be dismantled in order to be perfectly stored inside the wooden case. As well as the mentioned accessories, this set also includes a pair of brass tongs and a small wooden box with original sample plates. All these elements can be conveniently stored inside the wooden case, as it contains stands for every piece. The case itself is made of solid mahogany wood in an artisanal way, with lovely dovetail joints in the corners. It keeps the original brass handle, and also the lock and the key in perfect working order. This stunning microscope is a very special item, the best gift for every lover of science and antiques.
