Magnificent Otto Seibert Microscope in perfect working order. Germany, Circa 1915

This amazing antique microscope in its original wooden case is a German device manufactured by Otto Seibert Wetzlar circa 1915. It is a fully original item, in excellent condition and good working order. The microscope has a four-lens revolving nosepiece; all the lenses are signed with the inscription Otto Seibert Wetlzar. It also keeps all its original component parts. With a lovely classic design, the instrument has a bird-claw black iron foot and golden brass and chromed-metal mobile parts at the top. Screwed to the top of the enameled iron foot there is a small metal plate with the engraved inscription Otto Seibert Wetlzar. This company was founded in Berlin in 1867 by two brothers, Wilhelm and Heinrich Seibert. After some years the company moved to Wetzlar, a city renowned for the optic material manufacturers that worked there. Though in the early 20th century the Seibert brothers were associated with George Krafft, in 1917 they started collaborating the the famous manufacturer Ernst Leitz. After the brothers and their heir died, in 1938 Leitz Wetlzar became the sole owner of the firm. This wonderful microscope draws our attention for its excellent condition, its shiny metal pieces and its impeccable working order. Its four lenses guarantee a great precision and the metal gears and screw move fluidly and softly. The solid wooden case also contains two wooden stands, one of which stores four plastic sleeves for the lenses. The case is in good condition and preserves the original handle and lock. Inside the door we can see an original paper sheet with the printed manufacturers name and the lenses magnification numbers written by hand in black ink.
