This awesome antique microscope is an ancient piece, very well preserved and working wonderfully. It was made in Germany in the 1920s and shows an exceptional quality. It comes in its original solid wooden case, with a complete set of accessories in their corresponding sleeves and wooden stands. The microscope mounts a three-lens revolving nosepiece and a micrometrical adjustment system on the stage, designed to move the samples without touching them with the fingers. For all these reasons, this is an exclusive high-quality item that boasts a very special beauty. The instrument has a black-enameled cast-iron bird-claw foot and the top part is composed of golden brass pieces. The brass looks great and preserves the original protecting lacquer. The microscopes turret bears the following inscription engraved in the metal: KOSMOS Gesellschaft der Naturfreunde STUTTGART, with the serial number Nº 1833 Modell E. The inscription indicates that the microscope was commercialized by the Kosmos magazine, launched by the German publisher Franckh-Kosmos Verlags-GmbH & Co, still active. Founded in 1822, in 1903 the publisher set up the Friends of Nature Club (Gesellschaft der Naturfreunde) in response to the booming public interest in science and technology. Nine years later the Kosmos magazine was received by around 100,000 members of the club. In the 1920s they introduced their childrens and youngsters science experimentation kits just like the one we can see in these images. All the microscopes component parts are original and stand out for their great look and functionality. The lenses are made of brass and silvery metal, and bear the engraved name of the city where the publisher is located, Stuttgart. The micrometrical adjustment system works fine, while the iron foots lacquered finish remains shiny and even. The solid wooden case where the microscope can be stored is also in great condition its lovely light golden color and the beautiful satin finish are powerfully remarkable. It keeps the original handle, lock and key in working order. Evocative and antique, this microscope is a first-class scientific research piece worthy of a prestigious museum.
