Curious portable microscope in very good condition, more than one hundred years old and in working order. The microscope was made in Germany in 1920-30 and is quite well preserved in spite of being so ancient. It keeps all its original component parts and can still be used to watch samples in situ. This is a very special microscope, perfect to be carried comfortably and used on the field: the case is designed to be used as a supporting table. The hinges and the metalwork make it possible to move the different parts and connect elements such as the turret and the sample plate. Inside the case we find a paper with a German inscription. The manufacturers name is almost gone and the only thing we can read is the model (Nº Vb, that is, 5b in Roman numbers) and the magnification number of each lens. The rest of the metal components are quite well preserved, from the black-lacquered arm and turret to the chromed-metal parts. The pieces show only slight signs of wear or rust, although the microscope is quite an old item that was surely frequently used. The case where the device is stored (and that serves as a working table too) is made of solid oak wood. The front side can be folded down thanks to the hinge that connects it to the rear side. This way, when the microscope is connected to the top of the cover the user only has to fold down this piece, so the light can be reflected by the mirror and give light to the sample to be watched. The top side, designed to be used as a working table, is dark and has a metal device to connect the microscope and a hole where the sample plate can be fitted. As rare as interesting, this portable microscope will delight all the lover of the most special scientific antiques. Measurements: Width: 9 in / 23 cm. Height: 12 in / 30.5 cm.
